List Universities in Florida Helping Students in Puerto Rico and U.S Virgin Islands (APPLY)
Wow, it’s been at least a couple of
months since I last posted something in this blog (I will make a blog
explaining the situation). First of all, I wanted to explain the reason of this
blog post. For those who don’t know, I was born and raised in Puerto Rico but I
moved to Miami last August for educational reasons. A few days ago, Puerto Rico
was hit by one of history’s biggest hurricane, Maria. It left the whole island without
power, and mind you that there are about 3.5 million of people living in Puerto
Rico. Meaning that all of those people were left without power and water. For
this reason, a lot of Florida’s public universities (and some private) are
giving either discounts on those students who were affected by this hurricane
(it includes Puerto Rican students and those who live in the U.S Virgin Islands) or some financial help.
This post is dedicated to all of students that want to continue with their
education even though it means leaving home. Let me tell you a little secret,
you are never going to stop missing home. I made a list of all the universities
that are offering help (if I find out about more I will update the blog).
Please keep in mind that some universities/colleges are
going to ask you for your high school transcripts, college transcripts, SAT
scores. If you can’t get ahold of your transcripts send them an unofficial
transcript (this would be your grades). *For my UPR readers, go to
A tip: if you don’t
find what you’re looking for in the school’s website be sure to call them, all
the universities/ colleges I named are aware of the situation in Puerto Rico
and the Virgin Islands.
Use this website ( https://www.niche.com/?ref=colleges ) it basically shows you how much tuition would be and what degrees the university offers.

That’s it for today’s blog! Oh, I almost forgot. If you are planning
to live on campus, the university’s website has information about it. The only
reason I’m doing this is because I was once in your position (not about the
hurricane but about moving out of Puerto Rico to Florida) and I know it’s pretty
hard and you feel like you’re all over the place. I’m doing this for those who
truly want to keep on studying and help build up a better tomorrow. If you have
any questions I will answer them. Have a safe day/night. #PuertoRicoSeLevanta
Much love,
Adri.
